The village of Caye Caulker sits on a small, picturesque island in the Caribbean Sea; the island is just 2 miles long and less than a mile at its widest point. The caye is accessible by a 45-minute water taxi ride from Belize City or 10 minute flight from either the municipal or international airports. Sandy roads, colorful buildings, and friendly residents make this fishing village / tourist destination a beautiful place to live or vacation. Because the island sits a mile from the world’s second largest barrier reef, world-class snorkeling, scuba diving, and reef or deep sea fishing are a short boat ride away. In recent years, excellent international restaurants have made the caye somewhat of a foodie destination. Markets, beach bars, churches, and schools make it a wonderful place to call home either year round or seasonally.
